Day 364/365: Stubborn Bugger

It has only taken me 364 days to get my husband’s portrait for my blog. He is one of the most stubborn buggers around when he wants to be!

Day 362/365: Monkey Boy

This is my little boy doing what he loves the most – climbing! Good times 🙂

Monkey Boy: Nikon D7000; f5.6; 1/40; ISO 1600

Day 349/365: My Crocodile Hunter

The boys both had a great day at Jett’s birthday party on the weekend. I caught Ethan giving this cheeky look to Grandma, I’m pretty sure she was telling him to keep his hands close while Mr Crunch, the grumpy baby crocodile, was out of his box. I can only imagine what was going through that crazy 6 year old mind of his at that moment!

My Crocodile Hunter: Nikon D7000; f5.6; 1/250; ISO 100

Day 330/365: Puddle Reflection

The rain has finally stopped and our backyard is waterlogged! Ethan was in amongst the puddles & mud this afternoon, I love shooting reflections!

Puddle Reflection: Nikon D7000; f3.5; 1/200; ISO 100

Day 323/365: Musician in the Making

Finally, I have captured Ethy playing his guitar which I have been wanting to shoot for ages. Although the guitar is coloured an awesome blue, the photo really suits monochrome. I will post some detail images of the guitar tomorrow and show off its colour. My little musician in the making…

Musician in the Making: Nikon D7000; f8; 1/60; ISO 1250

Day 320/365: Who’s There?

Eyes can be so expressive sometimes! Ethan was actually mucking around trying to pose for me when he started being silly with his eyes. I love this shot of him looking cheeky & a littler spooked out at the same time!

Who's There? Nikon D7000; f5.6; 1/60; ISO 100; flash fired

Day 317/365: Puppy Dog Eyes

Who could say no to this little miss?!

Puppy Dog Eyes: Nikon D7000; f4.8; 1/200; ISO 400

Day 297/365: Juno

I needed to shoot when I got home from work today, so what better subject than our new girl, Juno. I admit I had help with this shot – John had to keep her sitting while I ran off a bunch of frames! She is such a happy, excitable little girl and after only 3 nights with us she is just one of our family already. This image has turned out as a perfect pet portrait!

Juno: Nikon D7000; f4.8; 1/60; ISO 400; Flash fired

Day 276/365: Patience

This is a portrait of my girlfriend’s oldest daughter, Taylor. She was also patiently waiting for a bite on her line as the storm rolled in.

Patience: Nikon D7000; f5; 1/200; ISO 100

Day 275/365: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

All the kids waited very patiently for the Dads to take them fishing yesterday. They all had a ball, until the storm rolled in. We all ran for shelter when it hit!! This is a portrait of my girlfriend’s daughter, Maddie.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Nikon D7000; f3.8; 1/320; ISO 100

Day 238/365: Concentration

My eldest boy Kyle, concentrating on his colouring in. What else can I say?

Concentration: Nikon D7000; f14; 1/200; ISO 1000

Day 231/365: Three Muskateers

The three little munchkins had a ball together last weekend! This is definitely a pic for Grandma’s wall.

Three Muskateers: Nikon D7000; f14; 1/60; ISO 1000

Day 230/365: An Occupied Mind

Sometimes I’d just love to know what is going through a two year old’s mind. My nephew Jett looks completely lost in thought in this moment!

An Occupied Mind: Nikon D7000; f14; 1/125; ISO 1000

Day 221/365: Ripples & Reflections

It looks like Ethan is completely off in another world in this moment. It makes me feel all calm & relaxed!

Ripples & Reflections: Nikon D7000; f5.6; 1/320; ISO 100

Day 219/365: Jack on the Beach

Caught Jack having a quick rest on the beach while we were out for a walk. He is such a cute kid!

Jack on the Beach: Nikon D7000; f4.5; 1/800; ISO 100

Day 207/365: Buggy Curiosity

In the trees at the camping ground, the boys found lots of these wonderfully coloured bugs. This was just little boy heaven! We were pretty sure they were some kind of stink bug, so were a little wary. However it didn’t stop the boys seeking them out, counting them & watching them. I love the look of curiosity & fascination in Kyle’s eyes. I couldn’t resist putting two images up!

Fascination: Nikon D7000; f10; 1/60; ISO 100; on board Flash fired

Day 201/365: Kyle on the Jetty

This photo was actually taken around dusk. The colour in the sky was amazingly subtle. I also experimented with using fill flash again and I’m liking the results! I like the fact that I got a natural smile out of Kyle – he is at the stage of giving a terrible cheesy grin directly at the camera!

Kyle on the Jetty: Nikon D7000; f3.8; 1/60; ISO 100; on board flash fired.

Day 200/365: Best Mates

I just love this image of Ethan and his Polar bear “Polly”. Ethan just loves him to bits, and you can tell from the dirty state of the white bear. But best friends don’t care about appearances, do they? I have also discovered the joys of fill-flash! Two hundred days in & I’m loving this journey…

Best Mates: Nikon D7000; f6.3; 1/25; ISO 100; on camera flash

Day 193/365: Kyle

Kyle honestly rarely stops laughing. Although it can be annoying at times, like when I’m trying to rouse on him and it fires me up even more, I think it is generally a good trait in him. He is a happy little boy. Here he is laughing at Ethy who is up in the tree.

Kyle: Nikon D7000; f5.3; 1/100; ISO 100

Day 192/365: Bear Hug

My boys had great fun the day we went to the chapel at Woodville. I was a bit worried they would be bored, but there was a huge tree which was perfect for climbing, so they were in boy’s paradise! Of course Ethan brought his beloved Polly with him (Polly the Polar Bear – see more of his adventures here) and I captured a gorgeous moment under the tree!

Bear Hug: Nikon D7000; f4.2; 1/40; ISO 100

Day 179/365: Takoda Smiles

I realise I am almost halfway through this project and I haven’t put up a portrait of my oldest boy – Takoda! He is our 12 year old Siberian husky. His name means “Friend to All” and is very true to his nature, he is such a softie! He has really slowed down in the last 6 months, but he is still a smiley chatterbox. That’s right – he talks to us, he doesn’t bark. Anyone who knows huskies will know what I mean. 🙂 He came on a day trip with us last week to Seal Rocks and you can see for yourself how much he loves being with his family!

Takoda Smiles: Nikon D7000; f11; 1/500; ISO 100

Day 158/365: Little Fisherman

I love the concentration on Ethan’s face in this picture of him fishing. If only he could wish a fish onto his hook, he would have caught plenty!

Little Fisherman: Nikon D70; f5.6; 1/500; ISO 200

Day 157/365: Mick

I actually came across this image of my brother-in-law as I was rolling through photos for my photobook I’m working on – and needless to say, I loved it! It was in colour & I instantly thought great B&W portrait! So here it is. Now I am really going to have to get a portrait of John up here before I get in trouble from Mick!

Mick: Nikon D70; f7.5; 1/60; ISO 200

Day 130/365: Lost in Thought

Another portrait of Kyle. I really need to expand my portrait subject matter, but I loved this image.

Lost in Thought: Nikon D7000; f5.0; 1/160; ISO 100
