I couldn’t help but post one more image of the King Parrots from Mum’s place. This pair were just about to take flight when I snapped them.
We’re at Mum & Dad’s place for Christmas and it’s a bird haven here. I shot this perfect pair this morning while having my first cup of tea. Although I’m not an avid bird watcher or anything, they are a great subject to shoot, especially these guys which are very friendly!
I stopped on my way home last night to shoot a tree full of white birds. I think they are some kind of egret but don’t quote me! Anyway, it was very low light and I didn’t have a tripod with me so I braced the camera as best I could on a fence post. Not surprisingly the image lacked sharpness and if it was only an hour earlier the light would probably have been amazing. I played around with it though and upon cropping I came up with this rather abstract photo. Instead of trying to disguise the noise and movement (which would be impossible), I suppose I have actually enhanced it to create a rather painterly effect. I know it will not be to all tastes, but I don’t mind it for something a little different, and that’s what’s good about doing a blog for yourself – I only have me to please and anyone else that enjoys what I do is a bonus! A really nice one I might add!
These fluffy little bird chicks were nesting in the rafters at the Catho Pub. What an opportunity it was to shoot them. The one on the right didn’t take its eyes off me!
I have to apologise if I am boring anyone with all these photos of Lake Macquarie. But the fact is, I had such a wonderful time with my camera there, and have so many shots that I love! It’s the first time I’ve actually got up early for the sole purpose of a shoot, and also the first time I’ve played with long exposures. So here are the birds on the jetty at sunrise, the golden hour! I hope you like it as much as I do.
