A 365 Day Project

Still Life

Day 358/365: She’ll Be Apples

For the first time our apple tree is fruiting. Hopefully they will still be there until they ripen and the birds don’t get them!

She'll Be Apples: Nikon D7000; f5.6; 1/30; ISO 100

Day 355/365: Derelict

This is another thing I have told myself all year I need to shoot. So finally, with ten days to spare, I stopped the car, got out and took some time to grab a few frames. I do wish I could have got closer for some detail shots of this derelict old cottage, but this was as close as I could get. I think it suits the black & white.

Day 354/365: Tynes

A different view of another hay rake. That is all.

Tynes: Nikon D7000; f5; 1/500; ISO 100

Day 352/365: Auger Bit

I spotted this auger bit lying out in a paddock yesterday. Love the blue metal down the inside of the bit, so decided to drop out the colour in the rest of the pic and focus on that, just for something different.

Day 351/365: Rusty Advertising

I can’t tell you how many times I have driven past this sign and thought to myself “I have to shoot that one day!” Well today I stopped to smell the roses, so to speak, and stopped driving to capture a few things. I love this sign for one of the hay farms at Morpeth. A bit of old machinery, rust & creativity and voila! The perfect sign!

Day 350/365: Christmas Bokeh

I read a blog post on taking Christmas bokeh shots yesterday morning, so last night before I went to work I had to get the camera out & give it a try! I am really pleased with my first attempts, and can’t wait to try some different style bokeh shots when we go out to look at lights this weekend. I couldn’t even pick just one photo, so you’ve got three. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….

Day 346/365: Droplet

A miserable, rainy summer day and I find myself home early for a change. What better thing to do than go for a wander around the yard looking for things to shoot? This was my pick of my shots, but I might have to post another one or two later this week. All I can say about this one is simplicity is the key to success!

Droplet: Nikon D7000; f6.3; 1/400; ISO 800

Day 344/365: Striking Paper

We went to my nephew’s birthday party today, and these paper baubles were the first thing to catch my eye. I loved the colours and the pattern made from the folding paper. They were hanging just inside so the light coming through was perfect.

Striking Paper: Nikon D7000; f10; 1/40; ISO 250

Day 324/365: Guitar Blues

Here are a couple of detail shots of my boy’s guitar. Just love the blue…

Guitar Blues: Nikon D7000; f20; 1/100; ISO 400

All in the Details: Nikon D7000; f1.8; 1/250; ISO 400

Day 319/365: Eclectic Echidna

I have been wanting to shoot this fella for a while now. My neighbour has the amazing ability to work wonders with metal. He recycles all sorts of bits & pieces to create artistic masterpieces. This is one of three mailboxes in our street that he has made. You wouldn’t want to run into this eclectic echidna on a dark night!
